On August 18, 1962, the 27th edition of R.A.C. Tourist Trophy Race,
is held in Goodwood (UK).
With the absence of Stirling Moss, convalescent of his accident of April in this same circuit, are
in the start, five units of the Ferrari 250 GTO. Among them is the # 10, Graham Hill, in
fourth position, who at 23 is the youngest driver on the grid.
After 100 laps, three GTOs share the podium. Innes Ireland is the winner. But the Ferrari 250
GTO # 3729GT of the John Coombs team and drived by Hill, crosses the finish in second
position, to only 4 seconds of the winner of the race. Mike Parkes gets the third place.
The following year, there was rematch.
